Henry Crowned men’s Pro men’s state champion, Howell takes 3rd overall in Cat 1, Coach claims 2nd in Cat 1 overall awards.
KSP athletes were out in force this spring mountain bike season. Scott Henry, who has progressed all season long, earned the men’s pro state championship…and will add that to his marathon state championship title. In his quest, Henry put in some dominating performances and, as one racer put it, “deserved” the state title.
In the cat 1 men’s 60+ category, John Howell captured 3rd place in the state championship series. Howell has worked very hard since the fall of 2008 when he first came on board with KSP. “I’ve made a lot of changes since August; including lowering my volume and taking a 6-12 month view of my goals,” says Howell. His performances this season did nothing but improve, start to finish, and KSP congratulates him on a job well done.
KSP had two other top 10 finishers this season with Kristi Welch claiming the 8th place spot in Cat 2 women’s 30-39 division, and James Webb grabbing 7th in the Cat 2 men’s 35-39 division. Welch, who did not race a full season and became ill just prior to the series closer, also showed tremendous improvement this season. Webb, owner of New Revolution Cycles in Kyle, took this season to train and regroup after being diagnosed with Celiac’s disease last year.
Last, but not least, hard-working coach Krause posted the fastest women’s time of the day at the series closer in Eldorado, Texas. She claimed 2nd overall in the women’s Cat 1 30-39 state championship.
KSP is proud of the accomplishments of all of its athletes!
