Scott Henry wins RHR marathon and crowned Marathon Mountain Bike State Champion, Esper earns 2nd in series
The Texas State Mountain Bike Marathon Series held its final event at Rocky Hill Ranch in Smithville, Texas Saturday, March 8th. KSP athlete Scott Henry, who is gearing up for the National Ultra Endurance Series calendar this summer, has finished his early season training with this impressive final victory. In a hotly contested season, Henry broke 2 course records and captured 3 wins on his way to becoming the marathon state champion. Prior to his summer NUE races, Henry will finish out the Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association cross-country state championship series.
Another KSP athlete, Dave Esper, a Category 1 rider in the 30-39 age division, earned the 2nd place spot in the state marathon championship standings. Esper, who does not consider the marathon distance his forte, nonetheless demonstrated real prowess over this distance in the 2009 season, earning 3 top 5 finishes in the series. At the Mas O Menos 100K in Terlingua, TX, Esper tore a tire off his rim early in the race, and managed to work his way all the way back to an 8th place finish in under 5 hours. Esper will be racing the rest of the Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association cross-country state championship series.
KSP offers its congratulations to Scott and Dave!
